PR can work, provided…

As Zaidel Baharuddin's The Malaysian Insider article 'Pakatan Rakyat to Pakatan Riot' explains, there remain unresolved doubts about how PR parties can work together to lead the country.

Of politicians and impostors

If in broad daylight someone walks in the street completely naked, shouting at the top of his voice that he can save this world... And if everyone else flocks towards him, believes in him, worships him, and embraces him, then this man must be a prophet.

Incomplete missions

We like to watch relay races to see how athletes hand off the baton to the next runner. Its victory formula is always the same. It requires a high degree of trust and tacit understanding among the four athletes.

Fall from grace

There are times when works of the imagination--whether novels, plays or films - best capture the intricacies and extremes of human life. As observers, we are unable to envisage the depths to which men and women can stoop to.

It is easier to understand than do

It is always easier to understand than do. You may know the truth, you may know what is the right thing to do and you may know what is the best for the society. But it may be very difficult to do it. Economic liberalisation is a very good example here.

The New Economic Model

There is something more important than MCA's presidential election come end of March. March 28 is an important date for MCA's fresh party polls. Two days later, the New Economic Model (NEM) will be unveiled in two stages.

The show

Former MCA President Datuk Seri Ong Ka Ting has decided to "make a comeback" while President Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat will "never retreat". We are now waiting for former Deputy President Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek to make his announcement.

Military procurement is more important?

During the era of Mao Zedong, there was a great saying "rather nukes than trousers". However, it has turned into a negative adjective later.

Pakatan Rakyat to Pakatan Riot

I find it rather interesting on the insistence of Pakatan Rakyat politicians saying that unlike in Barisan Nasional, in Pakatan Rakyat all parties are equal.

We need painful economic reforms, not a GST

The PM has finally taken heed of our critique of the GST. Or has he really? That's how it seems for now. But you really couldn't tell from this move as to why he defers the second reading of the the bill on GST.
