Kong Cho Ha goes for No 2 postby dominicpll ()IPOH, March 20 (Bernama) -- Former MCA vice president Datuk Seri Kong Cho Ha today announced that he will be contesting the deputy president post at the party's polls on March 28. Kong, who is also Housing and Local Government Minister and Perak MCA chairman, made the announcement at a ceremony to hand over letters of appointment to 134 Chinese new villages headmen from throughout Perak, at the Perak MCA building here. Kong is the first MCA leader to announce his candidacy for the post. At MCA's last polls two years ago, Kong obtained the highest votes in winning the vice president post. Speaking to reporters later, Kong said he took the decision after receiving the blessings of grassroot members. However, he did not wish to state who he would back for the presidency. During the function,he had also announced 12 names who would be vying for seats in MCA's all-powerful central committee (CC) and urged delegates to the poll on March 28 to back them. |
